15 Questions to Ask a Cleaning Company Before You Hire
The person who cleans your house will know your address, your routines and where you keep things. Get these answered first, from us or from anyone else you are considering in Meridian, Eagle, Boise or anywhere in the Treasure Valley.
Some of these questions are uncomfortable for companies that book through apps, call centers or franchise systems, because the honest answer is “that depends on who we dispatch.” Ask them anyway.
How to use this: check a box only when the company gave you a clear answer you could verify. “We’re fully insured” is not an answer. A certificate you can look up is.

Who is actually in your home
The most important part. Some companies sell the booking and send whoever is available.
Employees are trained, supervised and covered by the company. Contractors who find you through an app or a dispatcher often work under their own rules, their own insurance or none.
Red-flag answer"Independent professionals," "partners," "providers," or any answer that avoids the word employee.
Wanny Clean answerYes. Every Wanny Clean cleaner is on our payroll, trained by us and led by a team lead.
A new stranger every visit means nobody learns your home, and nobody is accountable for it.
Red-flag answer"We assign whoever is available that day."
Wanny Clean answerYour team lead stays the same every visit. When someone is out, another trained member of our own crew steps in.
Lead-generation sites collect your request and pass it to whoever pays for the lead. The name on the website may never show up at your door.
Red-flag answerThe estimate comes from a call center, a website form or a booking app, and the cleaning company is named later.
Wanny Clean answerYes. You deal with Wanny Clean from the first call to every visit after.
Insurance and screening
Ask for paper you can verify, not reassurance.
In Idaho, an employer with even one employee must carry workers’ compensation, and the Industrial Commission lets anyone check coverage online. If a cleaner is hurt in your home without it, the claim can land on you.
Red-flag answer"We’ll get that to you later," or a certificate that names a different company.
Wanny Clean answerYes. We send our certificates on request and you can verify our coverage on the state website.
Insurance covers accidents. A bond covers dishonesty. You also want to know who you call, and whether that person can fix it.
Red-flag answer"Contact the cleaner directly," or "the platform is not responsible for provider conduct."
Wanny Clean answerWe are bonded and insured. If something is damaged, you call us and we handle it directly.
A one-time check at sign-up is not the same as a company that screens every hire and keeps screening.
Red-flag answerA check run once by a platform years ago, or "we trust our providers."
Wanny Clean answerWe background check every employee before we hire them.
Who is accountable
When something goes wrong, you need a name and a phone number.
Owners who answer their own phone fix problems faster than a ticket system does.
Red-flag answerA corporate support line, a chat bot or "submit a request through the app."
Wanny Clean answerAndy and Wan Smith own and run Wanny Clean. You can reach us directly at 208-280-2574.
A local address and a local voice mean the company has something to lose if you are unhappy.
Red-flag answerNo street address, an out-of-state call center, or a number that rings to a lead service.
Wanny Clean answerOur office is at 880 E Franklin Road, Unit #310, Meridian. Calls and emails go to our own team.
At a franchise, the local owner may need corporate approval. On a platform, the company may only be the middleman.
Red-flag answer"I’ll have to check with corporate," or "we’ll open a case."
Wanny Clean answerThere is no middleman. The people who run Wanny Clean decide on the spot.
A promise only counts if it is written down, with a time limit and a clear process.
Red-flag answerA verbal "we always make it right" with no details.
Wanny Clean answerIf something was missed, tell us and we come back and make it right.
Your home and your information
Door codes, alarm codes and your contact details all travel with the booking.
On dispatch platforms, details can pass through several hands before they reach the person at your door.
Red-flag answer"Our providers get the full details once they accept the job."
Wanny Clean answerOnly the cleaners assigned to your home. Access details stay in our own scheduling system.
Lead-generation sites often send one request to several companies. That is why your phone starts ringing from strangers.
Red-flag answer"We’ll match you with a pro," or fine print about "partners."
Wanny Clean answerNo. Your information is used to quote and schedule your cleaning and nothing else.
Price and terms
A clear price and an easy exit are signs of a company that expects to earn your business.
A quote from a square-foot calculator and a phone call can change the moment the crew arrives.
Red-flag answerA price that moves on arrival, or an estimate with no walkthrough of any kind.
Wanny Clean answerYou get a flat price per visit after a walkthrough or detailed intake of your home.
Some first-visit discounts quietly enroll you in recurring billing that is hard to cancel.
Red-flag answerA discount that requires a card on file for recurring service, or a cancellation page you cannot find.
Wanny Clean answerNo long lock-in for homes. Our only fee is a late cancel or late reschedule fee, explained up front.
You should know what is going on your counters and floors, especially with kids or pets.
Red-flag answer"The cleaner brings whatever they have," or "please provide a vacuum."
Wanny Clean answerWe bring everything, and we will tell you exactly what we use.
